The Pilates Center

PILATES
The Pilates Center is a unique facility and offers a highly
individualized Stott Pilates Program. Whether you want to take mat classes, Pilates on the stability ball, or reformer sessions you
will find the individualized instruction you deserve. We limit our class size for both mat classes and our reformer sessions. This means you will get all the
benefits Pilates offers with an emphasis on your safety in accordance with your
physical abilities.

How to get started
To participate in our program each student must have one private hour-long
session with the instructor. This session is vital for several reasons. First,
it will allow the instructor to make an initial physical assessment. Second, you
will learn a great deal about what Pilates is and determine if the program fits
your needs and interests.
Class Schedule
New classes are forming so it is best for you to call for
specifics. Currently we have sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Reformer sessions are by appointment.
Taught By Darece
Condon
We are very fortunate to have Darece Condon as our lead instructor at the Transformation Center For Women. A professional dancer with the prestigious Boston Ballet for 11 years, Darece brings a keen awareness of the body and its kinesthetic functions to her Stott Pilates conditioning program. Darece is also a massage therapist at The Transformation Center and graduated from the Massage Institute of Memphis. She is a certified instructor in the Stott Pilates method. Darece is as genuine an individual as you will ever meet. She cares about her students beyond the classroom. An outstanding teacher, Darece keeps her classes small to ensure individual attention
Reformer Sessions
The reformer is the main piece of equipment used in Pilates and will enhance
your workout by providing resistance using springs and pulleys. There are over
500 exercises that can be performed on the reformer which can be modified to
meet your needs.

"Pilates on the Ball"
If you have ever wanted to get in shape but were uncertain
about weight lifting or if you do strength training all the time but would love
to add some variety to your program - our “Pilates on the Ball” class is a
perfect solution.
So - what are the benefits of using a ball for training?
You use your own body weight to gain strength instead of lifting
weights.
You will gain lean muscle
You will increase your core stability (stomach and low back)
You will improve your balance and posture
You will increase your flexibility
Stability Ball training works your muscles in a way that
you cannot on a machine or with weights. It works your core muscles on almost
every exercise.
You will notice a difference in your posture and your
coordination in many daily activities.
It works much faster than doing traditional sit-ups and
makes your muscles more lean and sculpted.
What About Stretching On The Stability Ball?
Stretching on the ball is different than any you have done
before. You can achieve deeper stretches because you can put your body in
different positions not possible on the floor. This is because the ball supports
some of your body weight and reduces stress on joints.
Stability balls are used in physical therapy and
rehabilitation for just this reason.
Another plus of taking a stability ball class is the pure
fun you will have. It’s social, non-competitive and it really works.
Call to learn the exact days and times. We also have burst
resistant non-slip stability balls you may purchase or you can bring your own.
Class size is limited to 8 people so sign up early. 901-755-1396
